Students prefer to do University degree at foreign universities

Due to the increase in opportunities students tended to study at a foreign university nowadays than in the past when they study in their own country. Do the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages of this development?

In this modern era, learners have numerous opportunities to get a degree from foreign universities as compared to the past, so they choose to continue their higher studies out of their home country. Although they have to leave their homes and pay hefty money to get admission are drawbacks, I believe that benefits are more such as an improved character and increased job opportunities.

On the one hand, the benefits of studying abroad are that students would get more exposure than their own country. This is because they interact with learners who come from different backgrounds, and their communication skills would improve. Consequently, it would broaden their horizons. For example, every year many students from India go to Canada for higher education. During their studies, they enhanced their personality and way of talking after meeting peers. Moreover, the number of job opportunities would increase. For instance, individuals who studied from foreign universities have four times more chances of getting a job as compared to others. Therefore, studying abroad improves their behaviour, and they have more work opportunities.

On the other hand, the drawbacks of learning from foreign institutes are that students have to live away from their families. Besides, when they go to other countries, nobody knows them, and they have to build relationships from scratch. As a consequence, they may isolate themselves and could indulge in criminal activities. To illustrate the crime rate in developed countries was increased twice due to the rise in students of other nationalities. Furthermore, fees are more at these universities as compared with the local institutes and also they may have to live in a rented house. Thereby parents have to spend hefty money to educate their children. For example, the fees structure of Canadian universities is five times more than the Indian educational institutes. Hence, they may feel lonely and have to bear an extra burden of finances.

To summarise, the drawbacks in the form of a sense of isolation and higher fees are there. However, I believe that personality development and more employment opportunities outweigh its limitations.
